1984: TechArt is
founded by publishing industry authors and consultants
Diane Burns and Sharyn Venit, and becomes one of the
very first Macintosh-based graphic design and "desktop
publishing" firms in the country. Located in San
Francisco's Noe Valley commercial district, the company
launches its services using several 128K Macintoshes
and--the company's workhorse--an Apple Lisa running
MacWorks, with a 5-megabyte hard drive!
1987: TechArt's president, Diane
Burns, is retained by Apple Computer Japan to help
launch the Macintosh desktop publishing market in
Japan. Her prominence in the Japanese publishing
industry earns her the moniker "Mother of DTP" in
the Japanese community.
1988: The company relocates
to its current location in the historic Jackson Square
district of downtown San Francisco, and adds high-resolution
film-output and electronic prepress services.
1989: Japanese-language services
are added to the company's capabilities, including
requisite hardware, software and staff. With this
additional strength, TechArt becomes one of the primary
Japanese film output companies in the United States.
1993: The company's name recognition
leads to the establishment of TechArt Japan in Tokyo,
under a name-licensing agreement with Daishinsha
Printing Company, headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
1994: Chinese- and Korean-language
services are added to the company's services.
1995: Website design and development
services are added, including East Asian-language
online services.
1996: TechArt T.Y.O office is
established in Tokyo, specializing in Web site hosting,
development, and localization.
Today, TechArt continues to
be a respected leader in the electronic publishing
industry, serving a variety of clients worldwide.
Our native-speakers and multilingual-multicultural
project coordination and production skills continue
to keep our clients coming back.
